What is Parent University?
Parent University is a collaboratively designed parent support project that is modeled after similar initiatives within the state. Parent University provides parents in Gaston and Lincoln counties the opportunity to build their parenting competence and confidence through educational seminars and workshops. The workshops will bring local, regional and state parenting experts together with parents to discuss issues that families are facing in the world in which we live. Parents will have the opportunity to learn new parenting strategies, find effective ways to communicate with their children and discover ways in which they can enrich their children’s growth and development. Because the majority of workshops are provided by local organizations, parents will be instantly connected with local resources with which they can access additional information or services.
